It is hard to overestimate the role of our own database — the registration card index — in tracing and provision of documents. The staff of the Centre have been compiling and verifying it for many years.
The Centre preserves unique documents dating back to the Great Patriotic War:
— a card index of persons evacuated during the Great Patriotic War;
— materials on forced labourers in Germany or prisoners of concentration camps;
— a card index of children sent to orphanages during the war;
— a card index of children whose parents were persecuted for political reasons.
